Immunofluorescence staining of A549 cells with rabbit anti-AQP10 antibody IGX-45255 at 1:60, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).

The channel is permeable to glycerol, especially when the cytosolic pH is acidified (PMID:21733844, PMID:30420639). Contributes to adipocyte water and glycerol permeability, and may thereby contribute to the utilization of glycerol derived from phospholipid degradation (PMID:23382902). May contribute to water transport in the intestine (Probable). Isoform 2: Water channel that mediates water transport across cell membranes, but that is not permeable to glycerol. |
