Product Overview
| Description | Serum albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin (propeptide 615aa, mature protein 597aa). It is secreted into the serum. It is the major serum protein and constitutes ~50% of the total serum proteins. It binds copper, nickel, calcium (weakly, at 2-3 sites), and protoporphyrin, long-chain fatty acids, prostaglandins, steroid hormones (weak bonds with these hormones promote their transfer across the membranes), thyroxine, and triiodothyronine. Source: Serum Albumin, from chicken serum Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
