Product Overview
| Description | Recombinant PAI-1 comprises a 379 amino acid fragment (24-402) corresponding to the mature PAI-1 protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag. PAI-1 is a serine protease inhibitor, which can exist either in an active inhibitory conformation or in an inactive or latent conformation. PAI-1 is produced mainly by the endothelium but is also secreted by other tissue types including adipose tissue. PAI-1 is the principal inhibitor of tissue plasminogen activator and urokinase, therefore inhibiting fibrinolysis. Increased levels of PAI-1 have been linked with various conditions including cardiovascular disease, thrombosis, insulin resistance and obesity. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
