Product Overview
| Description | Retinol binding protein (RBP4) belongs to the lipocalin superfamily of proteins. It is synthesized and secreted by hepatic paraenchymal cells and is involved in the binding of retinol and transthyretin preventing loss by glomerular filtration and renal excretion before transport to the peripheral tissues. Increased plasma levels of retinol binding protein have been shown to cause systemic insulin resistance and as such, the protein may play a role in the pathogenesis of Type II diabetes. Source: Recombinant corresponding to aa19-201 from human RBP, fused to 6x His-tag at N-terminal, expressed in E. coli. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot as a control. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
