Product Overview
| Description | TIGAR is a p53-inducible enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of fructose-2-6 bisphosphate (F-2-6-BP) tofructose-6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate. F-2-6-BP is a powerful activatorof 6-phosphofructose-1 kinase, the rate limiting enzyme of glycolysis. Bylowering the intracellular level of F-2-6-BP, TIGAR expression leads toincreased glucose processing via the pentose phosphate pathway, the majorcellular source for NADPH. Recombinant human TIGAR expressed in E. coli is a 29.9kD protein containing269 amino-acid residues. Endotoxin: <0.1ng/ug of protein (<1EU/ug). Protein Content: Verified by UV Spectroscopy and/or SDS-PAGE gel. Storage and Stability: Store lyophilized products at -20°C. For reconstituted solutions of most products, we recommend short-term storage at 4°C. For longer term storage the protein solution should be stored with a carrier protein (eg. 0.1% BSA) in working aliquots and stored frozen at -20°C. Additional freeze/thaw cycles may cause some denaturation of the protein. |
