Product Overview
| Description | Uricase is very important for the determination of uric acid in biological fluids. Not only is the reaction specific, it may be monitored at 292nm, 340nm or colorimetrically by coupled chromogenic response. Non-enzymatic methods are interfered with by turbidity or the presence of aspirin, ascorbic acid, glutathione, paracetanol and many antibiotics. Uricase (urate oxidase) catalyzes the overall reaction that represents the termination of purine catabolism in all mammals excluding man, higher apes and the Dalmatian dog. Quality Control: SDS-PAGE Activity: ≥2 units/mg Unit Definition: One unit oxidizes one micromole of uric acid per minute at 25°C, pH 8.5. Molecular Weight: 125kD Composition: The enzyme is composed of four subunits at 32,000D and one copper atom per molecule. Total of ~128kD. Optimum pH: 9.0 Extinction Coefficient: 11.3 Isoelectric Point: 6.3 Inhibitors: Various purine analogues of urate, cyanide and other copper chelating agents. Urate in alkaline solution may be converted to a potent inhibitor, oxonate. Storage and Stability: Store at -20°C. |
